  • About Shark Rescue
    Shark Rescue is an initiative from Sigei Media, a communications company based in Hong Kong. Our mission is to protect sharks and the oceans from unsustainable human activities. The reason behind the call for a ban on shark fishing is because the fishery has already decimated shark populations the world over, effectively upsetting the balance of marine habitats. 

    Our approach is to use the power of education to cause lasting change. This approach is to let everyone understand that there's a serious problem. By sparking discussion so others can learn, we are empowering others to help make themselves heard. Then, through our products and offers, our supporters receive a signature postcard, one that asks if we will witness the end of sharks -- can we risk losing even one species? 

    The postcard is a call to action to Hong Kong's Government. As Hong Kong is the greatest trader in shark-fin and other products, the city is particularly responsible for fueling the destruction of the world's seas and oceans. Our call to action is to have the Government lead towards a sustainable future.

    For our Winter campaign, we are supporting Delian Gaskell and Denvy Lo as they race in the Racing the Planet competition, this coming June in China's Gobi Desert. The 250km endurance hike will push the racers to the limit. 

    From their Winter campaign and other activities, we are supporting the island nation of Palau as it tries to protect its waters from the shark trade. The government of Palau announced through the UN that their waters are now a shark refuge. The marine territory is the size of France, but the small country faces a major challenge: They only have one patrol boat. By supporting Shark Rescue, Palau will receive more resources and attention.
